ABS TO HOST SPECIAL EVENTS DURING 2008 WORLD DAIRY EXPODEFOREST, WISCONSIN – September 19, 2008 – ABS Global is pleased to announce the various events and tours being held in conjunction with the 2008 World Dairy Expo, September 30-October 4. “Our proximity to World Dairy Expo grounds allows us to offer many activities for show attendees,” stated Robin Starkenburg, ABS Global Communications Manager. “These activities along with our continued 3-Star Sponsorship of the show demonstrate our commitment to a growing and changing dairy industry.” The first event of the week is the National 4-H Dairy Conference, which visits ABS Global headquarters on Monday morning, September 29. Two hundred young dairy enthusiasts tour the ABS facilities to view young and active sires, the laboratories and learn about possible career opportunities. The events continue on Tuesday, September 30 with the 2008 ABS Global Technical Services Symposium “Milk ‘em For All They’re Worth”. This symposium will be held from noon to 3 pm in the Monona Room in the Exhibition Hall at World Dairy Expo. Dr. Roger Thomson of Team Management Concepts and Tom Wall of Language Links will discuss proper milking procedures and their ability to maximize dairy profits. On Thursday, October 2, ABS is sponsoring the Educational Seminar, “Longevity—What Should we be Selecting For?”. Dr. Bennet Cassell from Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Dr. Tom Lawlor of Holstein Association USA & Lucy Andrews of Holstein UK will discuss the effects of health, fitness and type traits on improving longevity. Join the discussion from 1-2 pm in the Monona Room in the Exhibition Hall. In addition to the above noted events, ABS will also open its DeForest and new Dekorra bull facilities to tours Tuesday – Friday of World Dairy Expo week. Walk-in tours of DeForest will be offered at 9:30 and 1:30 each day, while tours of Dekorra will be at 11:30 each morning. Expo attendees can also take the ABS Tour bus from the World Dairy Expo grounds at 9:30 and 1:30 to tour the DeForest facility or at 11:30 for the Dekorra facility tour. Finally, ABS will continue the sponsorship of the infamous Donut Cart delivering donuts, milk and coffee to dairy cattle exhibitors on the World Dairy Expo grounds. Each morning from Wednesday through Saturday, ABS staff will be serving refreshments from 5:30 to 7 am.
