GENUS ABS HOLDS GLOBAL SUMMER TOURDEFOREST, WISCONSIN – September 2, 2008 – Genus ABS held their third annual UK Summer Tour July 9-11, 2008. Over 40 participants from Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Romania, Sweden, U.S. and the UK took part in the tour. “The UK Summer Tour is a unique opportunity that allows participants to visit the Genus ABS bull stud in Ruthin and highlights the success of the ABS Cornerstone® Progeny Test Program though visiting Cornerstone Breeding Club herds,” stated David Dunlop, ABS Cornerstone Program Manager. Before the tour began, participants were able to visit the Genus ABS bull stud in Ruthin in order to view ABS Global sires including 29HO12398 TENNYSON, 29HO12103 MELODY and the well-known 29HO12209 SHOTTLE. Participants then traveled through different areas of the UK viewing ABS progeny on 20 different ABS Cornerstone Breeding Club herds. Here participants were able to review progeny of ABS Global sires including 29HO12341 SEATTLE, 29HO11362 DRAGON, 29HO12360 SKAVLAN, 29HO12408 REUNION, 29HO12347 DYNASTY, 29HO12398 TENNYSON, 29HO12209 SHOTTLE and 29HO12373 SOLO. In addition, the tour featured progeny of future ABS leaders including 29HO12433 TOPNOTCH, 29HO12407 BLACK PANTHER and 29HO11609 HATLEY. Cory Salzl, ABS Cornerstone Specialist commented, “The quality of ABS progeny which were presented on the tour is a testament to the effectiveness of the ABS Global Cornerstone Progeny Test Program. After visiting the Cornerstone Breeding Club herds featured on the tour, I am very confident in the global strength of the ABS product offerings.” Other tour stops included two of the premier herds in the world--Brynhyfhyrd and Picston. Brynhyfhyrd is home to 170 EX cows with 95 percent of the herd classifying Good Plus or higher. At Piscton, tour participants were able to view progeny of Condon Aero Sharon EX-91—SHOTTLE’s dam.
