THORBURN NAMED CORNERSTONE AND DISTRICT 103 INTERNDEFOREST, WISCONSIN – June 30, 2008 - ABS Global has named Kirsten Thorburn the ABS Cornerstone and District 103 Intern for the 2008 summer. “Kirsten is very enthusiastic about the dairy industry and has a great passion for learning which will make her a great asset to the District 103 and Cornerstone teams,” stated Regional Sire Analyst and Cornerstone Specialist Supervisor for Region One, Rebekah Mast. Thorburn is currently a senior at the University of California-Davis majoring in Animal Science and Management with an emphasis in livestock and dairy. On campus, she is active in the Aggie Pack Student Boosters, the UC-Davis Beef Cattle Show team and the UC Davis Young Cattlemen’s Association. This summer, Thorburn will be working in Northern California in a split internship between District 103 and the ABS Cornerstone team. Her work for District 103 will include updating the database in targeted areas, riding along with ABS Representatives to gain a greater understanding of RMS® and working with GMS® evaluators to broaden her knowledge in evaluating cows. As a member of the ABS Cornerstone team, Thorburn will assist with inspection and selection of daughters of ABS sires for professional photos and tours. Her position will also involve preparing these selected daughters for picturing and assisting with the photo process.
