ACHEN NAMED PROGENY PROMOTIONS INTERN


DEFOREST, WISCONSIN – May 21, 2008, - ABS Global has named Jessica Achen the Midwest Progeny Promotions Intern for the 2008 summer.

“Jessica’s outstanding cattle evaluation skills, evidenced by her first place finish at the 2007 National 4-H Dairy Cattle Judging Contest, along with her experience in fitting and showing cattle at the state and national level with help her excel in her internship position,” stated U.S. Progeny Promotions Supervisor, Josey Morris. “We look forward to having Jessica as a part of our team this summer.”

Achen is currently a sophomore at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities majoring in Animal Science with a dairy emphasis. On campus, she is active in the Gopher Dairy Club.

Achen hails from Achen Dairy Farm located in Sauke Centre, Minnesota. There, her family milks 90 cows in a herd comprised of Holsteins, Brown Swiss and Milking Shorthorns. As the assistant farm manager, Achen is responsible for calf care and assisting with milking and feeding. She also manages the show string which travels to a number of regional, state and national shows each year.

Achen is active in both the Junior Holstein and Milking Shorthorn Association. She bred and owned the 2006 All-American Milking Shorthorn Spring Heifer Calf and in 2004 owned the Reserve Junior All-American Milking Shorthorn Senior 2-Yr-Old. Achen is also currently serving as the National Milking Shorthorn Queen.

Achen was a member of the winning Minnesota 4-H Dairy Judging Team at the 2007 National 4-H Contest held in Madison. She led her team being named the high individual overall and winning reasons at the contest.

As the Progeny Promotions Intern, Achen will be responsible for tracking and preparing ABS Global progeny for picturing opportunities. She will also work with daughter tours.
