ABS PROGENY EXCEL AT THE ROYAL WINTER FAIRDEFOREST, WISCONSIN - January 17, 2007 – The 2006 National Dairy Show at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair was held November 9-11 in Toronto, Ontario. ABS sired daughters of 94JE3083 Rock Ella REMAKE, 94JE3437 VINDICATION, 29AY7647 Blackaddar HERCULES, 29HO9023 ROYlane Jordan-ET and 94HO10276 Regancrest DUNDEE-ET were well-represented among the high quality, Canadian cattle shown throughout the week. ABS-sired daughters had outstanding results in numerous classes in the Jersey, Ayrshire and Holstein shows. "ABS progeny had an amazing week across the dairy breeds and age spectrum," stated Peter Draper, Canada Product Manager. "These outstanding results are proof that there has never been a better time to breed with ABS." The National Dairy Show began with the Jersey Show. Leading the way was Belfontaine Remake Oshgosh, owned by Jean-Luc Larose. Oshgosh placed first in the Junior Calf class. Judge’s Choice™ sire, VINDICATION sired both the third place Junior Yearling, Jersey B Vindication Lili owned by Desrosiers, C & J Simard and Laurent Lambert and the third place Winter Yearling, Smithden Vindication Vixen, owned by Sleegers, Smith and Ekstein. A highlight of the Ayrshire show included Rosayre Herc’s Rapid placing first in the Jr. 2-Yr-Old class and later being named Intermediate Champion of the Ayrshire Show. Rapid is a HERCULES daughter owned by Ken and Shirley Rose of Ontario, Canada. The National Dairy Show concluded with the Holstein Show. ABS sires ROY and DUNDEE dominated the heifer show with daughters taking home first place honors in the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Calf classes. Belfontaine Roy Discovery, owned by Belfontaine Holsteins, began the show by placing first in the Junior Calf class. In the Intermediate Calf class, a pair of DUNDEE daughters placed first and third, Belfontaine Dundee Abigail, owned by Morsan Farms and Belfontaine Dundee Odina, owned by Belfontaine Holsteins. Another pair of DUNDEE calves rose to the top claiming first and second place honors in the Senior Calf class. These two calves, Marthaven Dundee Alexis, owned by Marthaven Holsteins, David J. Faragher and Phoenix Brothers, and Gillette Dundee Sunshine, owned by Ferme Gillette Inc, placed first and second respectively. In the Summer Yearling class, DUNDEE sired three of the top nine heifers. Leading off and receiving second place honors was EastRiver Dundee Faith, owned by T&L Cattle Ltd., Blair Weeks and TY-D Holsteins. Other highlights from the show included Comco Roy Spears, owned by Maplekeys Farms, taking home second place honors in the Junior Yearling class, while Herbert Henderson’s Hendercroft Dundee Chicklet placed sixth in the Senior Yearling class. In the cow classes, Lindenright Dundee L Laural, owned by Stanhope Dairy Farm Ltd., Wedgwood Holsteins and Futurecrest Holsteins, placed fourth in a strong Jr. 3-Yr-Old class. DUNDEE was named the Premier Sire of the Junior Show and the Reserve Premier Sire of the day.
