ABS GLOBAL OFFERS SUMMER INTERNSHIPSDEFOREST, WISCONSIN - November 20, 2006 - ABS is offering summer internship positions in Communications, Progeny Promotions, Genetic Management System® (GMS®), Technical Services and Reproductive Management System® (RMS®) areas. The successful candidate for the Communications Summer Internship will be accountable for assisting with the production of assigned marketing and sales support materials. Key responsibilities include writing and proofing of articles, contributing creative and innovative ideas to the organization and assisting project leaders with the development of promotional materials. Some of the major projects involved with this summer internship are coordination of the 2008 ABS Calendars, and ABS representation at various tradeshows and events. Qualified candidates will have strong writing skills, have a desire to gain industry experience, handle multiple projects, think creatively and be a self-starter. The candidate will be working towards a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Journalism/Advertising or related degree. The ABS Progeny Promotions Department internship opportunity includes extensive travel throughout the U.S. The person in this position will assist with locating young sire daughters and facilitate picturing and tour schedules. The successful candidate will travel, seeking out and evaluating daughters. Upon location of daughters, the Intern will coordinate photo sessions and prepare these cattle for photos. Qualified candidates will be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science, Dairy Science or related field. Collegiate Judging Team and cattle fitting experience are required. Commitment to the dairy industry demonstrated through strong involvement in industry-related organizations or clubs is preferred. This internship requires extensive travel, a high level of enthusiasm, self-motivation, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work independently. The GMS Department works with over 220 Evaluators around the world providing mating recommendations, support in sire selection, linear evaluation support, inbreeding analysis, reproductive goal planning and inventory management from herds utilizing the GMS Program. This department is also seeking a summer intern to assist with processing herds and customer service to ABS field and customers. This intern will help implement the long-term goals of each dairy and help provide protection for inbreeding and recessives in order to maximize the genetic improvement set forth by each dairy. Candidates for this internship should be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science, Dairy Science or related field and must have experience working with Microsoft Excel. Genetics courses and Collegiate Judging Team experience are very beneficial. Commitment to the dairy industry demonstrated through strong involvement in industry-related organizations or clubs is preferred. This internship candidate must be self-motivation along with having excellent organizational and communication skills. The Technical Service Department provides product and service support to ABS Reproductive Management Program (RMS®) and Quality Milk System (QMS®) Programs. The 2007 Technical Service Summer Intern will assist with developing, prospecting new, and retaining current RMS® dairies. This intern will also work with ABS udder care products and services associated with the QMS® Program. Candidates for this internship should be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science, Dairy Science or a related field. Technical experience with field trials and product/service marketing are very beneficial. Commitment to the dairy industry demonstrated through strong involvement in industry-related organizations or clubs is preferred. This internship candidate must be self-motivation along with having excellent organizational, communication skills and be willing to travel. ABS offers several RMS Internships around the U.S. throughout the year. These are the 12-week internships with the opportunity for additional work throughout the school year on weekends and during breaks. It involves training, developing and applying skills needed for complete reproductive management in mid-size and large dairies and the intern will be providing service and support to current dairy producers utilizing the ABS RMS Program. RMS Internship candidates should possess an interest and background in animal agriculture with a preference to those individuals who have experience with dairy or beef cattle and must be pursuing a degree in Agriculture Science or Business. Computer skills particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel are a must. Candidates must also have the willingness to travel and work independently. Interested
