FITZGERALD NAMED SALES AND SERVICE INTERNDEFOREST, WISCONSIN - May 19, 2006 - May 19, 2006 - ABS is pleased to announce Brendan Fitzgerald will be a Sales and Service Intern in Division 3 for the 2006 summer. District Sales Manager Bill Flick states, “Brendan’s background and knowledge combined with his dedication and enthusiasm for the dairy industry will make him a valuable asset to the ABS Division 3 Sales and Service team.” Fitzgerald grew up on his family’s registered and identified grade dairy farm located in Colchester, Vermont. He developed an interest in farming at a young age and began helping with daily chores and increasing his responsibilities as age allowed. Today, he is responsible for managing the mating of cows and buying and selling registered replacements and embryos. Fitzgerald is currently a junior at the University of Vermont majoring in Animal Science. He has already received his Associates Degree in Dairy Farm Management Technology from Vermont Technical College. On campus, Fitzgerald is extremely involved in the Dairy Judging Team, Dairy Challenge Team, and Vermont Dairy Club. Through these activities, Fitzgerald has developed a passion for agriculture. He has had tremendous success on the judging team being named 2nd overall high individual at the 2004 Eastern States Exposition Intercollegiate Post Secondary School Judging Contest. His career goal is to work within the A.I. industry with a 50-cow registered breeding stock herd, as well as a 100-cow registered dairy replacement herd. As a Sales and Service intern, Fitzgerald’s responsibilities will include providing heat detection and insemination service to herds participating in ABS’ Reproductive Management System (RMS). He will also be exposed to other aspects of the business including reproductive performance monitoring, mating, and product sales.
