ABS AUSTRALIA'S LEGENDARY HOLSTEIN SIRE DONOR DIESDEFOREST, WISCONSIN - March 10, 2006 – The world renown ABS Australia Holstein sire, 29HO15007 Elite Mountain DONOR-ET, was recently laid to rest, just two months before his twelfth birthday. "DONOR truly was a global leader with over 36,000 daughters in many markets, including Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Ireland & Italy," stated Mark Smith, Genus/ABS Global Product Development Manager. "His outstanding pedigree coupled with his ability to produce profitable sons and daughters, contributed to the success of this elite sire." This Mountain son out of Pen-Col Mascot Dream (VG-87 GMD DOM) was a top Australian bull since his release in 1999. During his seven years on the ABV list, he has held the top spot six times and the second spot five times. More impressive is the fact that he has never fallen below number five on that list. In addition, he started at 95% farmer likeability following this first proof, and he finished at that same spot. Daughters of this legendary bull were known for the medium size, deep bodied daughters he sired. He provided both high quantity and quality milk through his high production, high fat components, and low SCC scores. Additionally, his excellence in SCC and farmer likeability traits made him a bull that was in high demand, year after year, around the world. DONOR was highly regarded around the world, and consistently claimed top spots in sire rankings in many international markets including New Zealand and Ireland. “DONOR was a dream bull,” stated Geoff Wood, ABS Australia Dairy Product Manager. “His ability to consistently sire profitable sons and daughters made him the bull that every A.I. company dreams of having. He will continue to have a huge impact on ABS through his grandsons.” Marcello Baggio, ABS South America Sales Manager, added, “DONOR has made a significant impact in South America because of his ability to produce profitable grassland genetics.” This outstanding Australian sire was buried at ABS Australia in Albury, where a memorial will be dedicated to his elite accomplishments.
