ABS SIRES HOLD STRONG POSITIONS ON TOP 100 TPI LIST

 

DEFOREST, WISCONSIN - November 18, 2005 - ABS reliable Cornerstone™ Progeny Test Program is the basis for the outstanding sires that hold seven of the top 20 spots on the November 2005 Holstein Association USA Top 100 TPI list. Information on these outstanding sires is listed below.

"Sires like August releases JET STREAM and May releases ALTON and MANGO continue to improve with each sire summary and the addition of more daughters," stated Scott Bentley, Global Dairy Product Manager. "We credit the Cornerstone Progeny Test Program for producing these outstanding sires along with new releases from this sire summary like FABRIZIO and MISSION. All of these sires are generating great interest both domestically and internationally."

Flying into ABS' top spot on the TPI list at number five is 29HO10792 JET STREAM*TV, holding steady at +1832. JET STREAM transmits outstanding profits with his +$500 Net Merit, +59 Protein pounds and +48 Protein pounds in a stylish package. His daughters possess great balance and udders as he is +2.25 on Udder Composite and +1.77 PTAT. This perfect combination leads to long-lasting daughters at +2.5 Productive Life.

29HO10681 ALTON*cv claimed the eighth spot on the TPI list. He has now achieved Rock Solid® with 108 daughters in 61 herds. He also claimed ABS’ top Net Merit spot being +$519 and is still a production leader at over +1650 lbs of milk. He also excels in Fat and Protein where he is +59 and +50, respectively.

The August ABS release, 29HO10641 MANGO*TV continues to climb the list coming in at number ten with +1740 TPI. He is one of ABS' leading Feet and Legs Composite bulls with a score of +2.24 and is also over 1.50 on PTAT. MANGO is safe for use in the heifer pens with his 6% CE Score and improves milk quality with a Somatic Cell Score of 2.75.

ABS Pregnancy King 29HO10493 BURT*TV claimed the twelfth spot on the November TPI at +1726. BURT is a profitable choice for dairy producers at +$502 Net Merit and a +59 for Fat pounds. He makes daughters with outstanding feet and legs and is another health trait leader at 2.70 for Somatic Cell Score.

Two Wisconsin-bred new release sires rounded out the list of ABS bulls in the top twenty. 29HO10728 FABRIZIO*TV from the great Frisco family at Sandy Valley Farms, Scandinavia, Wis. claimed fourteen, while 29HO10728 MISSION*TV from Steve Hayes and Steve Wessing in Fond du Lac, Wis. came in at fifteen. Both of these graduates combine milk, fat and protein to garner their spots on the list. Plus, they are calving ease bulls with FABRIZIO being at 7% and MISSION being at 6%.

Rounding out the ABS sires in the top 20 on the TPI list is 29HO10607 CONCORD*TV coming in at number 20 with +1702. This ABS fat leader surpassed the Rock Solid mark with 105 daughters in 65 herds. His +80 Fat lbs and +.12 Fat percentage rank him second among all ABS sires in the category. He is also an ABS Pregnancy King.
