DEFOREST, WISCONSIN -July 15, 2005 – ABS Global was honored to donate a $50.00 semen certificate to the highest placing calf, sired by an ABS bull, in the 1st Annual Ronald E. Johnson Memorial National Junior Brown Swiss Heifer Show held on July 1st, 2005.

The ABS Global semen certificate was awarded to Mitch Schulte of Watkins, Iowa. Schulte exhibited the winning fall calf in the largest class of the night. Out of the class of 26 heifers, CIE Schulte Bros Pride Anna was the winning heifer. This calf was sired by 29BS3741 R Hart Christian PRIDE. In addition, this PRIDE Fall Calf was named the Best Bred and Owned heifer of the show.

For a first time event, the National Junior Brown Swiss Heifer Show was a huge success with 112 animals shown by 77 Junior exhibitors from eight states throughout the country. The show was judged by Wayne Sliker of St. Paris, Ohio and Brian Garrison of Tiffin, Ohio. The National Junior Heifer show was designed to be a memorial to Ronald E. Johnson, an individual who was a huge supporter of Brown Swiss youth activities throughout his life and desired that part of his estate be used to sponsor a national youth show.
