ABS WELCOMES OLSON AS NEW DAIRY GENETIC PROGRAMS SPECIALIST

 

DEFOREST, WISCONSIN -July 14, 2005 – ABS Global is pleased to announce that Trent Olson has been selected as the new Dairy Genetic Programs Specialist.

"Trent has a strong appreciation and desire for the dairy genetic industry," states Andy Stiefel, ABS Global's Global Production Analyst. "His knowledge and background with dairy genetics will be extremely beneficial to ABS."

Olson, a recent graduate of the University of Minnesota, has obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science with a Dairy Production emphasis along with a minor in Applied Economics. While at school, Olson was a member of the University of Minnesota dairy judging team and was named an All-American judge at the World Dairy Expo Contest in 2004. Additionally, he was the Vice President and Treasurer of the Gopher Dairy Club and Delta Theta Sigma Fraternity. Olson was also named a National Holstein Distinguished Junior Member Semifinalist in 2003.

Olson has also been extremely active within the dairy industry working for both Olson-Lane Holsteins and as an intern for ABS Global Upper Midwest Division. At Olson-Lane Holsteins, Olson was the Assistant Herdsman and Genetic Program Manager where he selected sires in his herd and was responsible for maintaining the herd health, feeding and milking. As an intern at ABS, Olson assisted in cattle preparation for photography and completed service routes.

As Dairy Genetic Programs Specialist, Olson will provide technical support to the managers of Dairy Sire Acquisition and Progeny Test. Olson will also aid in developing marketing materials for progeny test bulls and assist with administration of Cornerstone ABS’ Progeny Test program. Olson started in early July and is based out of DeForest, Wisconsin.
