EMILY YEISER NAMED ABS COMMUNICATIONS SUMMER INTERNDEFOREST, WISCONSIN -July 12, 2005 – ABS is pleased to have Emily Yeiser as the Communications intern for the summer of 2005. "Emily possesses a strong agriculture background and a passion for the industry," states Robin Starkenburg, Global Communications Manager. "This background combined with her campus experiences have made her an asset to the ABS Communications team." Yeiser is from Maryland and attends Penn State University. She is majoring in Animal Sciences with a minor in Agribusiness Management. While at Penn State she has been extremely active within the Dairy Science Club, where this past spring she was a co-chairman of the first annual Dairy Days Cow Camp and has also co-chaired the Penn State Spring Dairy Judging contest. She is also a College of Agricultural Sciences Ag Advocate and a sister of Alpha Zeta Fraternity. In addition to her activities at Penn State, Yeiser is also the current American Dairy Science Association-Student Affiliate Division secretary/treasurer and has served as the past President of the Maryland Junior Holstein Association. Yeiser enjoys showing Holsteins and Brown Swiss as well as judging. In 2002, Yeiser won high individual and high oral reasons at both the Pennsylvania All American and World Dairy Expo dairy judging contests. Yeiser was also recently named a 2005 Distinguished Junior Holstein Member Finalist. Yeiser has also gained valuable on farm experience from her past summer internships at the University of Maryland research farm and Pintail Point dairy farm. She was responsible for the calf and heifer care and feeding as well as dry cow maintenance and washing, fitting and leading show heifers and cows. As the Communications intern, Yeiser will be responsible for copy writing, proofing and writing articles and press releases and contributing creative and innovative ideas to the development of promotional materials especially the 2006 Beef and Dairy Calendars.
