MATT ALVERNAZ JOINS ABS AS PROGENY PROMOTIONS SPECIALISTDEFOREST, WISCONSIN -– June 8, 2005 – ABS Global is pleased to announce the addition of Matthew Alvernaz as the new West Coast Progeny Promotions Specialist. Marci Walker, Global Progeny Promotions Manager, states, "With Matthew's experience and passion for the dairy industry, he will be a great asset to the Progeny Promotions Team. This position will allow him to expand his knowledge of dairy genetics and provide him with an opportunity to further develop new skills." A recent graduate of Cornell University, Alvernaz obtained a Bachelor of Science with a major in Animal Science. While at Cornell, he was an active member of the Cornell Dairy Club and Dairy Judging Team. He also has been extremely active within the Holstein Association and was named a National Holstein Distinguished Junior Member Finalist in 2001. Alvernaz has explored many aspects of the industry through various work and internship opportunities. He was the Heifer Manager at the Modesto Junior College Dairy Farm and was the Herdsperson at Millbrook Dairy in New York where he managed the fresh cows. Furthermore, Alvernaz worked as an Artificial Inseminator for Anderson Breeding Service and as a Technician for Lander Veterinary Clinic’s Embryo Transfer Division. These opportunities are what led Alvernaz to obtain a career focused around dairy genetics. As the new Progeny Promotions Specialist, Alvernaz will be given the responsibility of conducting on-farm evaluations as well as coordinating the picturing of ABS sired progeny. He will also conduct ABS daughter and herd tours in the Western United States. He will be based in California.
