HENDERSON JOINS ABS GLOBAL
DEFOREST,
WISCONSIN - May 5, 2005 - ABS Global is proud to announce James
Henderson as its new Genetic Programs Specialist.
"We are very fortunate to have Jim as part of our expanding and growing team at ABS," said Wayne Conrad ABS Division Manager. "We believe he will be a valuable asset to producers utilizing his 27 years of experience and knowledge."
Henderson will be working with producers in the Western United States, primarily in Idaho, Utah, Washington and Oregon where his main focus will be to maximize the genetic results for their herds. Some of the tools he will use include the Genetic Management System (GMS®), ABS Global’s premier mating program. In addition, he will oversee the expansion of the ABS "Cornerstone Genetics" Progeny Test Program, a program designed to provide top-quality, highly reliable genetics to our customers. He will be overseeing SET Programs, Evaluator training and be an additional set of eyes and ears for the Sire Procurement team. Henderson describes his new role more simply, "Helping ABS customers to develop and breed quality cows."
He is best known for his work at the Holstein Association, where he was a Classifier and Technical Supervisor. During his classification career he evaluated over 400,000 cows in 45 plus states with experience in both registered and commercial herds. He also has judged dairy cattle shows in Chile, Ecuador, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic and continues to be involved with area and national shows and sales.
"Since the very first days of the SET concept Jim Henderson has been a dedicated proponent of accurate and reliable type data for A.I. progeny test bulls. We will value his experience in conveying the trends and developments from the western states," said Dick Smith Manager of ABS Dairy Sire Selection.
Henderson also has past experience in the A.I. industry in addition to being a Holstein Association Field Representative and Herd Manager for Mountain High Holsteins in Colorado. He graduated with a BS in Animal Sciences from Colorado State University.
