Meyer Joins ABS as Genetic Management System® (GMS) Intern
DEFOREST,
WISCONSIN - November 22, 2004 –ABS is pleased to announce the hiring of Jerome Meyer as a GMS Intern for the 2004-2005 school year.
"Jerome's extensive dairy background, education and dairy judging skills will make him an asset to the GMS Department," says Amy Knuth, ABS GMS Manager. "These traits coupled with his enthusiasm, and long term goals to work in the A.I. industry will attribute to his successes at ABS."
As GMS intern, Meyer will assist with processing GMS herds and loading herd data into the system, while working closely with field Evaluators to ensure that herds are processed properly. Along with those responsibilities, he will also assist with the photo preparation of GMS cattle and help with GMS tours.
Meyer is currently a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he is majoring in Dairy Science. On campus, he is a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity, the Badger Dairy Club and the University of Wisconsin Dairy Cattle Judging Team.
He has had many successes in his dairy cattle judging career representing Wisconsin in both 4-H and collegiate contests. Most recently, he led his team to a first place finish at the 2004 North American International Livestock Exposition Collegiate Judging Contest, where he was high individual overall and second high individual in oral reasons. In addition he has worked with several prominent Wisconsin dairies where he was involved in the reproductive management, record keeping, sire selection and embryo transfer programs.
