Birt Receives Award at 2004 Representative Banquet

DEFOREST, WISCONSIN - October 28, 2004 – Independent ABS Representative Doug Birt of Prescott, Iowa received the Representative of the Year Award for District 704 at the 2004 Beef Division Representative Round Table Banquet.

"Doug is an industry leader in Iowa, owning a breeding barn for use during synchronized breeding projects, which enables improved cattle flow, encourages better cattle temperament, and increasing pregnancy results," says ABS District Sales Manager Brian Brace. "Doug worked as a CHIPS (Cow Herd Improvement Program Services) technician for several years and now works hand-in-hand with many of the same programs through ABS HerdWorks, a program that was modeled after CHIPS. Through his work with these programs, he is helping to improve the quality of cattle and add value to his customer’s cattle."

Birt joined ABS as an Independent Sales Representative in December of 2001. During this short time with ABS, Birt has developed a strong and growing customer base in Southwest Iowa, by looking toward the future of the beef industry and the future needs of beef producers in his area. ABS District 704, which Birt serves, consists of Missouri, parts of Illinois, Kansas, Iowa and Arkansas. This is the second year in a row that Birt has received the award, based on a formula including sales units, sales revenue and percent increase in sales.
