ABS SETS ALL-TIME RECORD FOR U.S. BEEF MARKET SHARE

DEFOREST, WISCONSIN - July 16, 2004 – ABS Global continues to be the industry leader, setting a new all-time record high beef market share of 54.8 percent during the first quarter of 2004.

“The growth that ABS has experienced is the direct result of our strong product offering and our commitment to service as exemplified by our Professional Beef Representatives throughout the United States,” said Jady Grad, ABS Vice-President of North America Sales.

“We are very pleased with our continued market share growth,” stated Doug Frank, ABS Beef Product Manager. “ABS is dedicated to offering customers the best genetics available to meet their goals and our client base has rewarded this effort with increased loyalty in each of the past two years.”

Based on National Association of Animal Breeders (NAAB) sales numbers, ABS’ market share numbers rose to 54.8 percent through the first three months of 2004 exceeding the previous high set in the same time period in 2003. Frank added, “The real excitement is that not only did ABS expand its sales, but due to a positive beef economy the overall beef A.I. industry grew too.”

There was a 12.5 percent unit increase in sales in the A.I. industry since last year’s first quarter. During this first quarter ABS represents 66 percent of the A.I. growth within the beef industry.
