ABS GLOBAL SPONSORS PROGENY TOUR IN MINNESOTA AND WISCONSIN

DEFOREST, WISCONSIN - May 17, 2004 – From April 27th-April 30th, ABS Global Regional Sire Analysts, International Affiliates, Representatives, GMS Evaluators, and staff visited several herds on the annual ABS Regional Sire Analyst Tour.

“This year’s tour allowed us to see many outstanding daughters from some of our most exciting bulls here at ABS,” comments Marci Walker, Progeny Promotions Manager. “We are pleased with the tremendous impact our sires have on herds visited in Wisconsin and Minnesota.”

Stopping at 21 different farms, tour participants saw a wide range of the ABS “Rock Solid” bull progeny. The sires of the daughters viewed varied from 2nd crop 29HO9023 ROY daughters, to daughters of ABS’ newest graduates. 29HO10356 REECE, 29HO10370 MALIN, and 29HO10312 PROSPECT are all new releases that were featured in the tour.

Viewing daughters of 29HO9154 GORDON exemplified his ability to pass on genetics of strength, silkiness of hide, great udders, and longevity. 29H8697 S-MAN’s daughters exhibited consistency, as they proved to be well-balanced, with good udders and feet and legs.

Another highlight of the tour were the herds visited that utilize the Genetic Management System (GMS). Deer Brook Farm Inc. and Ripp’s Dairy Valley are farms that possess daughters with outstanding consistency. ABS tour participants quickly saw the benefit of GMS.

International participants were from Australia, Italy, UK, and Canada. This annual spring tour gives participants the opportunity to not only view progeny, but also interact with Regional Sire Analysts, Dairy Department staff and Global Affiliates.
