ABS AUSTRALIA EXPORTS SEMEN TO SOUTH AFRICA

DEFOREST, WISCONSIN - August 5, 2003 -ABS Global, Inc. has exported its first shipment of Grassland Genetics dairy semen to South Africa since its purchase of RAB Australia Pty Ltd (RAB) in February of this year.

“This shipment is the first step in supplying dairy producers around the world with Grassland Genetics,” states Jerry Punzel, ABS Global International Product Coordination Manager. “These genetics will provide producers with a prime opportunity to increase herd profits and longevity by using genetics proven in low input grazing conditions.”

The shipment exported to South Africa contained 800 units of semen from ABS Australia’s top bulls. Holstein genetics being shipped include the highly reliable 29HO15007 Elite Mountain DONOR IMP-ET, Storm son 29HO10026 Auldreekie Maughlins GALE-ET, udder improver 29HO15011 Kenron LUCKYSTRIKE-ET, type improver 29HO15025 Auldreekie GAIETYs Influence-ET, and components specialist 29HO15010 Hill Valley GERSHWIN-ET. Also included in the shipment is Australia’s number one Jersey sire 29JE3359 Claydon Park FLOWERPOWER. DONOR was recently featured in Holstein International and is the premier second crop sire in both Australia and New Zealand.

ABS’ Grassland Genetics produce cow’s that thrive in intensive pasture based environments. Such environments require that cattle be durable and sound as extreme conditions range from cold and wet in the winters, to hot and dry in the summers. In these environments 80 percent of an animal’s intake is from grass.

Other countries with orders placed and shipments pending included Brazil, United Kingdom, and the United States. ABS Global exports from Australia are expected to be significant, due to the increased demand for Grassland Genetics by dairy producers throughout the world. Key markets include South America, Central America, Middle East, Africa and New Zealand.
