ABS SIRES - WORLD DAIRY EXPO SUCCESS

 

DEFOREST, WISCONSIN -October 25, 2002ABS Global is pleased to announce the show winning success of ABS-sired progeny at World Dairy Expo.
"The success of ABS sired progeny in the show ring was rewarding," states Dairy Product Manager, Scott Bentley. "Our genetic program is doing exactly what it should be, getting the producer bulls that provide success in the show ring and profits in the bulk tank."


ABS-sired progeny won 17 classes at World Dairy Expo. Of those winners three went on to earn Champion honors and four earned Reserve Champion honors in their shows. Those receiving Champion honors were: Sweepstakes Supreme Champion, Red and White Grand Champion and Best Bred and Owned, RED MARKER daughter Spungold Tahoe-Red, Dale and Deanna Bendig, Gettysburg, PA; and Red and White Junior Champion of the Open Show, RED MARKER daughter Richesse Starchoice RMK-Red-ET, Jason Thomas Healy, Pleasant Valley, NY.


Reserve Champion honors were awarded to: Ayrshire Reserve Junior Champion - Open Show, LARO daughter Ridgewood Laro's Girl, Marlin and Christian Palich, Corland, OH; Ayrshire Reserve Champion - Junior Show, SPECIAL K daughter Val D'estrie Special K Lolly, Heather Morrell, Cochranton, PA; and Red and White Reserve Grand Champion, NOX-RED daughter Sellcrest No Rachel-Red, Indianhead Holsteins, Barron, WI. Many other ABS-sired progeny also placed well at the show.


In addition to siring success in the show ring, ABS provided 1,000 exhibitors in the barns with donuts, coffee and milk along with friendly, early-morning, smiles each day. The Technical Services Department hosted close to 60 participants from around the world for a symposium on reproductive management. Topics discussed included monitoring reproductive programs, controlling time of A.I. ways to improve fertility, and improving superovulation. In addition, the Progeny Promotions Department hosted 80 participants from 15 countries on three tours that saw ABS-sired progeny and unique dairy management techniques.
